RENOVATIONS AND REPAIRS
OF SKATEPARKS
WHY IS IT WORTH RENOVATING A SKATEPARK?
Concrete skateparks are facilities subject to very intensive use. Over time the concrete surface washes out, becomes porous and excessively rough, and cavities, cracks and leaking expansion joints appear. This process advances gradually and often goes unnoticed until hazards to users arise. Renovating a skatepark is a preventive measure that restores the facility's proper technical parameters, improves safety and significantly extends its service life, without the need for costly demolition and construction of a new facility. Renovation is not merely a cosmetic procedure – it is part of the rational management of public assets.

RENOVATION
WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE RENOVATION OF A CONCRETE SKATEPARK INVOLVE?
restoring the smoothness of the concrete surface through professional grinding,
permanently sealing all cavities, holes and degraded areas,
refilling expansion joints with a flexible polyurethane compound,
protecting all metal elements with anti-corrosion coatings,
removing unauthorised graffiti from riding surfaces,
painting vertical walls to improve aesthetics and the legibility of the forms,
impregnating the entire concrete surface to limit water absorption and further degradation,
in justified cases, installing missing barriers or rails.

The renovation of a concrete skatepark comprises a set of related technical works aimed at restoring and raising the facility's usability standard.
The result of the renovation is a safer and more durable facility, often in better technical condition than at the time it was first handed over for use.
RISK
DOES A NEGLECTED SKATEPARK INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY?
washed-out concrete is very rough and causes severe skin abrasions,
excessive roughness prevents protective pads from working properly – instead of sliding, you come to an abrupt stop,
holes and cavities in the surface can cause wheels to stop suddenly and lead to accidents,
corroded rails slide worse, making it harder to use obstacles safely,
missing barriers may mean non-compliance with the applicable PN-EN standards,
graffiti on obstacles often creates a very slippery layer, causing unpredictable changes in grip.

Accidents resulting from the neglect of public infrastructure do not fall within the inherent risk of practising sport,
and responsibility for their consequences rests with the facility's operator.
ABOUT US
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
A key stage in building Skate Care's expertise was the collaboration with Komsol AB, a company carrying out work on concrete sports facilities in the Scandinavian market.
As part of this collaboration, Skate Care took part in projects covering:
assessment of the technical condition of concrete skateparks,
renovation and repair work on concrete elements,
improving the usability and safety of facilities,
organising works in active public spaces.
This collaboration made it possible to gain practical knowledge of concrete renovation technology, workmanship quality control and work planning based on the long-term life cycle of the infrastructure. The references obtained confirm the Contractor's experience in delivering tasks in line with Scandinavian standards of quality and durability.

INDEPENDENT OPERATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT IN THE POLISH MARKET
After completing the international collaboration stage, Skate Care began operating independently in Poland, implementing and developing the technologies it had learned based on local conditions. In the course of the projects carried out, we developed our own construction solutions that build upon the techniques used in Scandinavia.
The improvements applied include in particular:
adapting the technology to climatic conditions and seasonality in Poland,
modifying the scope and sequence of works to reduce facility closures,
optimising solutions for the rational use of public funds,
increasing the durability of critical skatepark elements (edges, roll-ins, high-wear zones).

COMPREHENSIVENESS AND FLEXIBILITY OF DELIVERY
Skate Care delivers projects in a comprehensive formula, covering:
consultation and a technical audit of the existing facility,
developing a recommended scope of renovation or modernisation,
carrying out construction and repair works,
advice on the further maintenance of the facility.
Each skatepark is analysed individually, taking into account its technical condition, the way it is used and the Client's expectations. This approach allows us to select solutions appropriate to the actual needs, without unnecessarily expanding the scope of works.
CREDIBILITY AND SECURITY FOR THE CLIENT
Combining the experience gained in the Scandinavian market with independent practice in Poland allows Skate Care to offer the Client services based on proven technical solutions, while taking into account domestic formal and budgetary realities.
For the Client, this means:
reducing technical and operational risks,
rational cost planning over a multi-year horizon,
working with a contractor with specialist industry knowledge
